In Cuba, as in any other country, accepting an offer from a strangers (this includes the taxi driver) might be dangerous. Cigars bought in the streets might be false and thus confiscated in customs; rum from unknown sources might be contaminated; and casas for less than $25 a night might be illegal and you might find yourself involved in a robbery or something worse.
